Week Ending March 19, 2017

Ace has named senior attack Shannon Booth (Pearl River, New York/Nanuet) from the nationally-ranked women's lacrosse program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Booth totaled eight points with five goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the #20 Skyhawks to open their NE10 schedule. She also collected six ground balls and a caused turnover for the week, converting 2-of-4 free-position attempts. Booth registered five points with three goals and two assists in Saturday's 13-5 win over Franklin Pierce, adding four ground halls, after opening the week with two goals and an assist for three points with two ground balls and a caused turnover in Thursday's 8-6 win over Saint Anselm. Booth earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Once again, Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski earned All-America honors for the eighth time in her career when she took seventh in the one mile run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday night. She completed her third mile run in as many days with a school-record time of 4:47.21 after qualifying ninth overall in Thursday's prelims in 4:50.22 to take third in her heat to lock up the final automatic qualifying spot for the final. Borofski ran the one mile anchor leg for Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay which finished 13th on Friday night in 11:46.65. She earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the 11th time this year (31st career).

Ace has named senior Elizabeth Vetter (Great River, New York/East Islip) from the nationally-ranked women's lacrosse program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Vetter netted a game-high four goals in the No. 17/18 Skyhawks 16-11 setback at #9/11 Rollins in their season-opener on Sunday night. She also chipped in a ground ball, draw control and caused turnover as she moved within a point of 100 for her career. It marks the first time Vetter has earned Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for her career.

Ok, we admit it, this is getting slightly ridiculous, but the performances just keep better and now for the fifth straight week and amazing 30th time in her career, Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski was a part of two New England Championship winning performances in leading the Skyhawks to a ninth place team finish at Saturday's New England Championships in Boston. She ran the one mile anchor leg unofficially in 4:46.3 for Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay which won the event for the second straight year and improved its NCAA provisional qualifying standard in time of 11:39.41 on Friday night. Borofski followed that up the next day by winning her second individual New England Championship, with a first place finish in the one mile run in 4:49.71 to break her own school record and improve her NCAA provisional qualifying standard.

Her impressive run continues, with Ace has naming senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the now four time NE10 Champion women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski led the Skyhawks to their fourth straight NE10 Indoor Championship and was named Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the meet by winning a pair of individual NE10 titles along the way. She opened the night by winner her third straight title in the one mile run as she broke her own meet record with her time of 4:51.00. Borofski followed that up with a second 3000-meter title in a meet record 9:53.96. She has now won Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth straight week and ninth time this year overall (29th career).

For the third straight week, Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the regionally-ranked women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski tuned up for the indoor championship season with a strong performance at Friday's David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University with another strong performance in the one mile run, posting the No. 7-ranked time in the country for the event at 4:51.00 to place 27th out of 230 competitors against all NCAA Divisions. In addition to her three-straight Ace's Athlete of the Week honors, Borofski has earned the honors eight times this year overall (28 career).

For the second straight week, Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the regionally-ranked women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski was a part of two NCAA provisional qualifying performences over the weekend at two seperate meets on Friday and Saturday. First, she ran the one mile anchor leg for Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay which posted the No. 4-ranked time in the country at Friday night's Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invitational at Boston University at 11:45.29 to place fourth behind Division I powers Mississippi State, Boston College and Virginia. Borofski followed that up at Saturday's Coaches' Tribute Meet at Rhode Island  by winning the one mile run in 4:57.24 to provisionally qualify for her second individual event in as many weeks, marking the 14th-fastest time in the country to date. Borofski, who along with her DMR teammates collected NE10 Relay of the Week honors, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week for the seventh time this year (27th career).

Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the regionally-ranked women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski made her indoor season debut at Saturday's Tufts Stampede and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, in March for the 3000-meter run, winning the event in 9:47.59 - good for 13th place nationally. She also ran a leg in the Skyhawks 4x800-meter relay which finished first in 9:51.90. Borofski earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the sixth time this year (26th career).

Ace has named sophomore Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) from the regionally-ranked women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Dexter set a pair of personal-bests in leading the Skyhawks to a second place team finish at Saturday's Sorlien Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island. She finished second in the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.75-seconds, breaking her own previous school-record time of 7.81 set at the 2016 New England Championships, after qualifying second with a time of 7.78 in preliminaries. Dexter also finished second in the 200-meter race with a personal-best time of 25.66. Dexter earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Ace has named freshman Madison Ward (Holliston, Massachusetts/Holliston). from the regionally-ranked women's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Ward had a successful debut in her first collegiate meet at Saturday's Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard, as she provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the high jump as she cleared 5-feet, 5-inches to place eighth in the event as the Skyhawks were the lone non-Division I program at the meet. She also placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 34-feet, 7.75-inches. Ward earn's Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Ace has named junior guard Courtney Walsh (Windham, New Hampshire/Central Catholic) from the women's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Walsh averaged 17.5 points on 46.7-percent shooting from the field (14-for-30), including 6-of-16 from three-point distance in a 1-1 week for the Skyhawks. She also contributed 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and a blocked shot per game for the week. Walsh scored 14 of her team-high 17 points in the second half to help Stonehill seal a 67-55 win over Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, as she made 7-of-16 shots from the field, including 2-for-8 from three-point distance, adding three rebounds, a career-high two blocked shots and a steal. She led Stonehill with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, at Le Moyne on Wednesday with four rebounds and two steals. Walsh earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in her career - both coming this season.

Ace has named freshman guard Kelsey Shaw (Bar Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Island) from the women's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Shaw posted the first double-figure scoring output of her career with a season-high 20 points in the Skyhawks lone game of the week at LIU Post on Saturday. She made 9-of-16 shots from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers, to go with a season-high matching six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 23 minutes off the bench. Shaw earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time.

Ace has named junior forward Samantha Hyslip (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford Academy) from the women's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Hyslip averaged 18 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and a steal in two games for the Skyhawks last week, shooting 59.3-percent from the field (16-for-27) for the week. She scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half against 14th-ranked Bentley on Saturday as she finished shooting 8-for-14 from the field and drained 4-of-5 free-throws to go with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. She made 8-of-13 shots for 16 points against Southern N.H. on Wednesday, to go with six rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots. Hyslip earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for hte second time this season (third career).

Ace has named junior guard Courtney Walsh (Windham, New Hampshire/Central Catholic) from the women's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Walsh averaged 19 points, three rebounds and two assists per game in a 2-0 week on the road as the Skyhawks ran their win streak to three games. She shot 45.5-percent from three-point range (10-for-22) and converted all four free-throws for the week. Walsh scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the first half of Wednesday's win at Franklin Pierce, connecting on 4-of-6 three-pointers in the half, to go with three assists as she finished shooting 7-for-14 from the field overall. She made 5-of-11 three-pointers and converted both free-throw attempts for a team-high 17 points in Saturday's win at Saint Michael's, to go with five rebounds, an assist and steal. Walsh earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Ace has named junior forward Samantha Hyslip (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford Academy) from the women's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Hyslip nearly averaged a double-double with 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game over two games for the Skyhawks, making all 16 of her free-throw attempts for the week and also contributing 1.5 assists per game. She posted her second double-double of the season (fourth career) as she totaled a career-high 26 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor, while converting all 12 free-throws, with a season-high 11 rebounds (six offensive) against Merrimack on Tuesday. She added 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists in Sunday's 60-59 win at #23/25 Saint Anselm. Hyslip earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in her career.

Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the nationally-ranked women's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski posted the program's highest-ever finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday with her 19th place performance to become the first two-time All-American in program history. She completed the six-kilometer Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Florida, in 21:08.01 to lead all East Region runners at the event and lead the NE-10 and East Region Champion Skyhawks to a 22nd place team finish. Borofski, the NE-10 and East Region Runner of the Year, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fifth time this year (25th career).

Ace has named junior middle blocker Katherine DeLanty (Smithtown, New York/Smithtown West) of the volleyball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. DeLanty led the Skyhawks to a split of two matches against regionally-ranked teams by averaging 2.62 kills, with a .273 hitting percentage, 0.12 service aces and 1.50 blocks per set for the week. She posted her first double-double of the season with 15 kills and 12 blocks (three solo) in Tuesday's three-set win at Saint Anselm, adding three digs, while hitting .394 (two errors on 33 total attacks) and scoring 22.5 points. DeLanty capped the season with six kills, three block assists and a service ace against New Haven on Friday night. DeLanty earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (second career).

Too tough to call as Ace has named both senior All-Amercan Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) of the NCAA East Regional Champion cross country program and senior Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) of the Northeast-10 Champion women's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athletes of the Week. Borofski won her second straight individual title at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday as she completed the six-kilometer course at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds on New Hampshire in a personal-best time of 20:57.5 to lead seven All-Region performances for the Skyhawks with her fourth straight honor. Block led the Skyhawks to their first NE-10 Championship in 21 years by yielding just one goal over three NE-10 Tournament games with two shutouts, while averaging six saves per game. Borofski collects Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time this fall (24th career), while Block earns the honors for the second time this fall (second career).

Ace has named senior setter Taylor Stevens (Foster, Rhode Island/Ponaganset) from the volleyball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Stevens engineered a Skyhawks offensive attack which featured two hitters with 3.00 kills per game and two with 2.00 kills per game or higher in a 2-1 week. She averaged 10.27 kills, 0.27 service aces, 2.73 digs and 0.36 blocks per set for the week. Stevens totaled 48 assists, nine digs, two service aces and four kills in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Assumption. She added 38 assists, ten digs and four kills in Saturday's 3-1 win over Saint Rose after posting 27 assists, 11 digs and two block assists in Friday night's setback to regionally-ranked Le Moyne. Stevens earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season, the second of her career.

Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the Northeast-10 Conference Champion and nationally-ranked women's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski successfully defended her individual Northeast-10 title and led the Skyhawks to their eighth straight NE-10 team championship and 15th overall at the Northeast-10 Championships, hosted by the College on Saturday. She led the way for the Skyhawks on Saturday by completing the course in a career best time of 21:26.2, 44-seconds faster than the runner up. Borofski best her 21:48.8 time from last year. The senior is now the first Skyhawk to win back-to-back NE-10 Championships and the first two-time Runner of the Year. Borofski earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this fall (23rd career).

Ace has named junior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston), from the equestrian program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Kimbar shined in the Skyhawks two opening shows, highlighted by High Point Rider honors at Stonehill's home show on Sunday. She placed first for both intermediate equitation over fences and on the flat to lead four blue ribbon performances as Stonehill took second place at its home show. Kimbar also placed fourth for intermediate fences and third on intermediate flat on Saturday at Brandeis. Kimbar earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the nationally-ranked women's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski became the first Stonehill runner in program history to capture a New England Championship in cross country as she completed the five-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 17:28.7, almost ten seconds before the second-place runner from Division I Northeastern. She led Stonehill to an eight place team finish - first among the NCAA Division II programs at the meet. Borofski, who earned NE-10 Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time this season for her efforts, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this fall (22nd career) as the first repeat honoree.

Ace has named senior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) from the nationally-ranked women's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Block was the backbone of two shutout wins for the Skyhawks last week, averaging four saves over the two matches. She opened the week with eight saves in Stonehill's key 1-0 victory against Assumption on Wednesday and then followed that up with her sixth clean sheet of the year in Saturday's 3-0 win over Saint Michael's College. Block, who earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career, was also named the NE-10's Goalkeeper of the Week for her efforts.

Ace has named freshman Alexandra Vo (Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania/Nazareth Academy) from the regionally-ranked women's tennis program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Vo led Stonehill to three NE-10 wins last week by posting a combined 6-0 record in singles and doubles play over the three matches. She won two matches at No. 2 singles, and a straight sets win at No. 1 singles in Sunday's victory at American International. Vo also won all three of her doubles matches with two different partners, including a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles with junior captain Victoria Barbetta. She led Stonehill to a key 5-4 decision at Southern New Hampshire, ranked seventh in the region, on Saturday with wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. Vo, who earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this fall, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week for the first time.

Ace has named senior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the No. 13-ranked women's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Borofski led the Skyhawks to the College Division (Divisions II & III) team title at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, on Friday as she posted her second straight event win to open the season and fifth cross country win of her career. She won the College Division race and finished fourth overall behind three Division I competitors as she completed the five-kilometer course in 17:32.5. Borofski, who also earned Northeast-10 Conference Women's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this fall for her efforts, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the 21st time in her career.

Ace has named sophomore goalkeeper Sara Freedman (Hopkinton, Massachusetts/Hopkinton) from the No. 5-ranked field hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Freedman backboned a Skyhawks defense which posted a pair of shutout victories over nationally-ranked opponents in a 2-0 week, averaging 3.0 saves per game. She made four stops in Monday's 2-0 triumph over preseason No. 2 Millersville and then added two more saves in Saturday's 4-0 victory at 10th-ranked Limestone. Freedman, who also collected NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors for her efforts, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Marking the first awards of the academic year, Ace has named senior forward Lauren Kapatoes (Hopedale, Massachusetts/Hopedale) from the regionally-ranked women's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Kapatoes earned Tournament MVP honors in leading the Skyhawks to their first Catholic Cup title over the weekend in Colchester, Vermont, as she totaled two goals and an assist for five points over the two wins. She opened the season with a goal and assist in Friday's 3-1 win over Assumption and then potted the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 triumph over Saint Anselm in the final. Kapatoes earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
