Three players tally two points each in first shutout of the season
Hall was one of three skaters with two points in the game, his seventh multi-point game of his career
FOXBORO, Massachusetts (November 27, 2018) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team dominated in a 5-0 victory over Post University, for its first shutout of the season, Tuesday night at Foxboro Sports Center.
For Stonehill, (2-5-0), Cameron Wright, Jack Hall, and Shamus Maloney each tallied two points in the win. Wright scored a goal and recorded an assist, while Hall and Maloney each registered two helpers. Jack Scannell, Charles Page, James Varney, and Ryan Meade were the other goal scorers, while Connor Jewett, and Nicholas Godin each notched an assist. Senior goaltender Billy Palmer tallied 27 saves for his first shutout of the season and second-career shutout.
Stonehill opened up the first period with 12 shots, as they skated to get a feel of Post's plan of attack as the Eagles tallied eight shots. Palmer and Post's Brandon Brown stayed strong in the crease in the back and forth opening frame.
The Skyhawks finally capitalized in the second period in a short-handed situation, as Varney flipped the puck into the cage at 9:49, 1-0, for his first goal of the season and second-career goal with a pass from Maloney who was on the right side. Following the goal, Stonehill saw its first power play of the game, but were unable to extend its lead to two as Post killed the penalty. Four minutes before the period ended, Meade put his fourth goal of the season on the board and sixth of his career at 16:12. Maloney was able to find Meade in front of the net for his third assist of the season, ninth overall.

Thirty six seconds into the third period after a shot that went wide from Godin, Scannell slid in his first goal of the season and seventh-career tally, extending the lead to three, 3-0. Godin notched his first assist of the season and 13th-career, while Jewett picked up his third assist of the season and 12th overall. Stonehill was called for its second penalty at 3:04, but they were able to kill the power play for Post, as the Eagles saw three shots, including two saved by Palmer.
Once the Skyhawks were able to skate with even strength in the third period, they saw the fourth goal of the game at 6:21. Hall registered his third assist of the season and 15th career, dishing the puck to Wright for his first goal of the season and 13th of his career, 4-0. About four minutes later Stonehill extended its lead to five, 5-0, with Page's first-career goal at 10:01. Wright and Hall tallied their second points of the game with the final tally of the game. Stonehill outshot Post 56-27 at the end of the game.
Stonehill is set for a two-game road trip, as it faces non-conference foe UMass Dartmouth first on Saturday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m., followed by another 7:00 p.m. puck drop against Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's College on Tuesday, December 4.
