Ringstad Named NE-10 Player and Rookie of the Week
Fairbanks, Alaska, native collects second Player of the Week, sixth Rookie honor
Ringstad, who earns Player of the Week honors for the second time and his sixth Rookie of the Week award, posted a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play in leading Stonehill to a pair of in-region wins. He was 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, teaming up with senior Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) as the Skyhawks posted 9-0 wins over Post University and American International College. Ringstad won 6-4, 7-5 over Post's Christopher-Brian Amedjonekou, while he and Bergeron also posted an 8-0 sweep in doubles play. Ringstad closed the week as a double-winner in Saturday's victory over AIC, notching a 7-5, 6-2 win over James Worrall after teaming up claim an 8-3 doubles victory.
Ringstad has posted a 25-6 combined record in singles and doubles play for Stonehill in his first collegiate season. He is 13-3 in singles play, going 10-1 at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks, including a 4-0 mark in NE-10 play and has won his last five matches. Ringstad is a combined 12-3 in doubles action, going 2-0 as a teammate with Bergeron to go with a 10-3 clip with sophomore Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford). He and Hyzak reached the semifinals of the B-doubles bracket at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional in September. Ringstad also advanced to the Round of 16 for the Championship singles bracket at the ITA East Regional.
Stonehill (10-1, 4-0 NE-10), ranked tenth in the ITA East Regional rankings, is back in action on Friday when it visits rival Bentley University for a key NE-10 matchup at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Thursday, April 5, to host Southern New Hampshire University on Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
