Lynott and Galligan combine for eight goals in final regular season home game
Senior All-Americans Samantha Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem) and Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) combined for eight goals to lead Stonehill to the victory. Lynott registered five goals and an assist for six points with five caused turnovers, four ground balls and two draw controls, while Galligan finished with three goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Classmate Kaitlyn Wood (North Massapequa, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) also chipped in with a goal in her final regular season home game.
The three Stonehill seniors have been a part of a program that has posted a 51-17 (.750) record overall, including a 39-5 (.886) mark in NE-10 play, with three NE-10 tournament semifinal appearances to date, including a championship game appearance, an NCAA Tournament bid and the 2009 NE-10 regular season title.
Junior All-American Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) filled the stat sheet yet again with two goals and three assists with seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and four draw controls. Junior Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) added two goals and an assist, while classmate Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) chipped in with two markers.

Freshman Ashley Armstrong (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) finished with 12 saves in goal for Stonehill as the Skyhawks posted a 29-22 edge for shots. The Skyhawks held Assumption to just 10-for-21 on clear attempts, forcing 21 turnovers, while clearing 17-of-19 attempts themselves with 19 turnovers. The Greyhounds finished with a 12-10 edge for draw controls.
Sophomore Michelle Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) stopped nine shots in the cage for Assumption. She also chipped in with five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Freshmen Amy McNeil (Orange, Conn./Amity) and Camille Auger (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) each finished with a goal and assist for the Greyhounds.
Green opened the scoring 1:05 into the game as Stonehill scored the first eight goals of the contest before leading 8-1 at halftime. Lynott had three goals and an assist in the opening half for the Skyhawks, while Green finished with a pair and Reilly registered a goal and assist. Senior Danielle D'Amico (Johnston, R.I./LaSalle Academy) got Assumption on the board with a goal, assisted by Auger with 6:50 to play in the half.
Stonehill scored the first six goals of the second half to extend the lead to 14-1 after freshman Brooke Rudden's (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) fifth goal of the year with 11:49 remaining. Lynott opened the second half scoring and had two of the Skyhawks first four goals in the frame over the opening ten minutes. Galligan also netted two goals during the six goal run.
Junior Michelle Santos (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) and Auger scored back to back goals for Assumption before Wood tallied her third of the season with two minutes to play. McNeil scored with 1:30 on the clock and then Sullivan capped the scoring with 14-seconds left.
Stonehill (13-3, 10-1 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday when it wraps up the regular season at No. 4-ranked Le Moyne College at noon. The Skyhawks can claim a share of the NE-10 regular season championship with a win. The NE-10 Tournament opens next Wednesday, May 2, with first round action. Assumption (5-9, 4-7 NE-10) hosts Mercy College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
