Hickey helped Stonehill to its first NE-10 semifinals appearance since 1999
EASTON, Mass. (November 23, 2011) – Stonehill College senior goalkeeper/forward Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass./Lee) has been chosen to participate in the 2011 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, to be held at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. on Sunday, December 4 at 11 a.m.
Hickey, who transitioned to forward this season due to injuries up front, tied for the team-lead in goals with five in 14 games played (11 starts). Hickey also added two assists to finish second on the team in points with 12 total. In five games played (four starts) in net, Hickey notched a 3-1-0 record to go along with a 0.44 goals against average (GAA), a .909 save percentage, 20 saves and three shutouts.
Hickey posted her first-career hat trick in a 5-0 triumph over Assumption College on October 29 and netted one goal and dished out one assist in the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Tournament quarterfinals against Southern Connecticut State University in a 3-2 win. For her efforts, Hickey was selected to the NE-10 Tournament All-Championship Team.
As a goalkeeper for Stonehill in her four-year career, Hickey posted a 20-19-3 record overall in 44 games played stopping 225 shots to go along with 11 shutouts.
Stonehill (11-7-2, 8-5-2 NE-10) fell to eventual NE-10 Tournament champion Saint Rose, 2-0, in the semifinal round.
