Nasby led the Skyhawks with 11 kills
EASTON, Mass., (October 28, 2016) – The Stonehill women's volleyball team fell to Le Moyne, 3-0 by set scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20 in Friday night's match at the Merket Gymnasium.
Stonehill's (9-12, 4-6 NE-10) junior Marykay Nasby (Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine) recorded a team- and match-high 11 kills, while teammates Megan Penino (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Katherine DeLanty (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) followed with six kills. Four Skyhawks tallied double-digit digs including Ashley Hitchcock (Warrenville, Ill./Benet Academy) with 12, Taylor Stevens (Foster, R.I./Pontaganset) with 11, and Rachel Dunlavy (Bridgton, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard) and Claire Manuszak (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) with 10 apiece.
Le Moyne (18-5, 8-2 NE-10) also saw one player in double-digit kills, as Natalie Casson led the charge with 11. Mikayla Porr tallied 22 digs in the victory, while Kendall Corcoran recorded 34 assists.
Stonehill's .211 hitting percentage in the first set outlasted Le Moyne, even though the Dolphins ended up on top with a 25-23 set win.
In the second frame, Le Moyne came out with fire, as its .227 hitting clip and biggest lead of seven, came three times with its last, 20-13, secured set point, 25-19.
The two teams battled back and forth in the third set with eight knotted scores and six lead changes, as the Dolphins would close out the match with a 12-5 run, taking match point, 25-20.
