EASTON, Mass. (September 26, 2018) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings, opened a busy week of matches by cruising to a 7-0 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Junior Alexandra Vo and sophomore Isabelle Porter led five double-winners for Stonehill in its 17th-straight regular season NE10 win dating back to the 2016 season. Porter posted wins at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Skyhawks, starting with a 6-2 decision with sophomore Bethany Hammond that clinched a sweep of the three doubles matches. Porter followed that up by battling back from a 2-4 deficit in the opening set for a 6-4, 6-1 triumph against Franklin Pierce junior Alana Wyatt in singles play.

Vo and freshman Samantha Ormesher teamed up with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles that clinched the doubles point for Stonehill. Vo then provided the match-clinching fourth point with her 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles against Franklin Pierce freshman Grayson LaCroix. Hammond and Ormesher were also double-winners for the Skyhawks. Ormesher also erased a first half deficit at No. 3 singles in her way to a 6-4, 6-0 win against junior Sarah Rich, while Hammond blanked Brigid Washburn 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.

Freshman Emma Markaryan rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill without dropping a single game over her wins at No. 3 doubles, with junior Caroline Ray and No. 5 singles. Junior Anastasiya Shyianok also earned a point for the Skyhawks with her win at No. 6 singles.

Stonehill (4-0, 4-0 NE10) continues its busy four match week on Friday night, when it hosts Division I College of the Holy Cross at Watt Courts at 6 p.m. Franklin Pierce (1-5, 1-2 NE10) visits Bentley University on Saturday at noon.
