Volleyball Unable to Get Past Le Moyne, 3-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (November 4, 2017) – The Stonehill women's volleyball team was defeated by Le Moyne College, 3-0, at the Ted Grant Court in Northeast-10 Conference play Saturday afternoon with set scores of 13-25, 14-25, and 24-26.

Stonehill (10-13, 7-5 NE10) senior libero Claire Manuszak (Indianapolis, Indiana/Bishop Chatard) tallied her 12th-straight match with double-digit digs, recording 20 this match. Four Skyhawks tallied five kills apiece including senior Ashley Hitchcock (Warrenville, Illinois/Benet Academy), juniors Allyson Hughes (Modesto, California/Big Valley Christian) and Rubysummer Lord-Moreland (Minneapolis, Minnesota/Hopkins), and freshman Sophia Poveda (Miami, Florida/Westminster Christian School).

Le Moyne (13-11, 6-6 NE10) saw Anna Hafoka with a match-high 12 kills, while Jessica Miller and Danica Durdines followed with nine apiece. Marguerite Dillon and Mikayla Porr chipped in 11 and 14 digs, respectively.

Stonehill led the first set with a 4-0 lead, but Le Moyne bounced back and took a one-point lead, 5-4. The Skyhawks were only able to keep the deficit to three, 13-16, before the Dolphins rallied their way to a 25-13 win with a 9-0 run.

The scoring was more spread out in the second set, however Le Moyne held onto the lead the entire frame. The Skyhawks came within three once again, 9-12, but the Dolphins extended its advantage to 10, 24-14, and took the second set with a block, 25-14.

Stonehill found some momentum in the third set, leading the way with a two-point lead, 16-14. Le Moyne gained some ground, but the Skyhawks were able to tie the set up four times, 21-21. The Dolphins took match point with a 6-2 run, 26-24.

Stonehill concludes the regular season with a pair of home matches, starting with hosting Adelphi University on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. followed by Pace University on Saturday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. for the Skyhawks' senior day.
