captures individual title with course record performance as
Skyhawks place second out of nine teams
KUTZTOWN, Pa. (October 23, 2010)
– Senior All-New England performer Patrick
Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) set a course
record to lead Stonehill College, ranked 21st in this
week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
(USTFCCCA) Division II poll, to second place finish out of nine
teams that competed at today's Kutztown University Division II
Challenge in men's cross country action today.
Fullerton captured the individual title by
completing the eight-kilometer course in a course record 25:35,
just two seconds ahead of Shippensburg University sophomore Matt
Gillette (25:37). It marks the second top five and third top ten
finish for Fullerton this season who earned All-New England honors
with a tenth place showing at the New England Championships two
weeks ago.
Stonehill placed second as a team at the event
with a team score of 63, while Shippensburg took the team title
with 20 points. Southern Connecticut State University rounded out
the top three with 100 points.
Junior Stephen Polito
(Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) finished eighth for
Stonehill (out of 85 runners overall) with his time of 25:55.
Senior Daniel Pilz
(Newington, Conn./Newington) placed 13th in
26:22.
Stonehill has a week off before
returning to action on Sunday, November 7, when it hosts the 2010
Northeast-10 Conference Championship at 10 a.m. The Skyhawks will
be looking to defend their NE-10 title in two weeks and capture
their fifth title overall.
