HOPKINTON, N.H. (October 11, 2024) – Sophomore
Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) led the Stonehill men's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at NEICAAA New England Cross Country Championships at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds Friday afternoon.
Pereira placed 22nd out of 207 runners that finished as he set a new personal record in the eight-kilometer race with a time of 25:11.72. Bryant's Ryan Slaney would go on to win the 8K, finishing at 24:12.61 to lead all runners.
Central Connecticut State won with a team score of 38, Providence placed second with 75 points, and Rhode Island finished in third place with 108 points. Stonehill placed ninth with 251 points out of 17 teams.
Highlights
- After Pereira, freshman Kyle Kwiatek (Lynn, Mass.) finished the first collegiate race of his young career, placing 40th as the second Skyhawk to cross the finish line with a time of 25:31.5.
- Sophomore Nick Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) placed 72nd, clocking in at 26:27.72 26:15.41 for his best time of the fall.
- Freshman Aiden Ruiz (Northborough, Mass.) set a PR in the 8K, placing 83rd as he finished the race at 26:27.8.
- Freshman Nick Bianchi (Natick, Mass.) finished in the top 100, placing 97th with a PR of 26:41.2.

- Freshman Shane Stanghellini (Plymouth, Mass.) ran in his first collegiate 8K, placing 117th with a time of 27:01.0.
- Sophomore Matthew Malora (Harrington, N.J.) crossed the finish line at 27:40.0 to place 147th in his first 8K race of the season.
