NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (November 1, 2024) – Sophomore
Dylan Brilliant (Plymouth, Mass.) finished fifth overall in the eight-kilometer Northeast Conference Championship Race at Stanley Quarter Park on Friday, pacing the Stonehill men's cross country team to a third-place finish.
Central Connecticut's Jake Ireland won the 8k race, leading the Blue Devils to their second consecutive NEC Championship. Five of the top six finishers were Blue Devils, with Brilliant breaking up the sweep.
Wagner finished in second place with 51 points, while Stonehill's 78 points secured the Skyhawks a top-three finish. Le Moyne finished in fourth, LIU fifth, FDU sixth, and Saint Francis, Mercyhurst, and Chicago State rounded out the final three spots in the team standings.
Highlights
- Brilliant placed fifth out of 79 runners on Friday, crossing the finish line at 26:00.2 as he earned a spot on the NEC All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season.
- Freshman Ethan Fadden (Bellingham, Mass.) made his mark in his first NEC Championship race, placing 16th with a time of 26:59.3 as the second Skyhawk to finish.
- A year after making the All-Rookie Team at NEC Championships, sophomore Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) had another solid outing, placing 19th at 27:13.8.
- Freshman Kyle Kwiatek (Lynn, Mass.) finished close behind Pereira, finishing in 27:21.9 to place 21st.
- Senior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine) clocked in at 27:28.0 to place 23rd, while sophomore Brendan Wilder (Waltham, Mass.), an All-Rookie Team member last year, placed 25th with a time of 27:32.4 to round out the Skyhawks top five finishers.

- The sixth Stonehill runner to cross the finish line was sophomore Ian Bubar (Warwick, R.I.) who clocked in at 27:40.9 to finish 28th.
- Another Skyhawk finished in the top 30 as freshman Jacob Tobin (Natick, Mass.) notched a time of 27:51.5 in his first NEC Championship appearance.
- Graduate student Patrick Garratt (Westwood, Mass.) finished 35th with a time of 28:12.8.
- Sophomore Nick Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) was close behind Garratt, placing 37th at 28:23.3.
- Freshman Aiden Ruiz (Northborough, Mass.) recorded a time of 29:08.9 as the 49th runner to cross the finish line.
