EASTON, Pa. (November 16, 2024) – Lafayette University took advantage of a pair of first quarter turnovers to build a three-touchdown lead on its way to a 42-10 victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference football matchup at Fisher Stadium this afternoon.
Juniors
Jamar Curtis scored three touchdowns, while classmate
Troy Bruce also rushed for a pair of touchdowns to lead Lafayette. Curtis finished with 91 all-purpose yards, carrying the ball eight times for 51 yards and two touchdowns, to go with 40 yards on two catches and a third score. Junior
Dean DeNobile completed 18-of-24 passes for 275 and a score, while Bruce rushed for 40 yards on nine carries and two scores. Freshman
Mason Kuehner contributed a game-high 101 all-purpose yards with three receptions for 90 yards and 11 yards on three punt returns for the Leopards.

Gabe DuBois and
Semaj Cross and freshman
Xavier Johnson each intercepted passes for the Lafayette defense, with a solo tackle apiece. The Leopards forced four turnovers in all for the afternoon, leading to 21 points in the other direction. Senior
Reggie Thomas otaled six tackles (all solo) for Lafayette, while classmate
Tim O'Hearn added five stops (two solo), including 1.0 sacks for a loss of eight yards, and two quarterback hurries.

Junior cornerback
Mo Seide intercepted two passes to lead the Stonehill defense, marking the Skyhawks first two-interception game in 11 years, finishing with five tackles (three solo). Junior
Jordan Irvine posted a game-high seven tackles (five solo), including 1.0 for a loss of two yards, while classmate
Tyler Bannon added six stops (four solo).
Senior
Danny Hurley delivered a field goal for the second-straight week for Stonehill, this from 37-yards in the second quarter to put the Skyhawks on the board. Junior
Zavion Woodard scored his fourth touchdown of the season, finishing with 37 yards on ten carries, while postgrad
Jacob Flynn caught two passes for a career-high 84 yards, including a 37-yard reception that set up the Woodard score in the fourth quarter.
Freshman
Drew Eason made his first collegiate start for Stonehill, marking the fourth different quarterback to start for the Skyhawks this season, completing 10-of-21 passes for 145 yards.
How It Happened
- Lafayette seized control of the game with a 21-point first quarter, as Curtis scored both of his first quarter touchdowns following Stonehill interceptions.
- Curtis' first score on a 28-yard run was two plays after DuBois' interception at the Lafayette 35 was returned to the Stonehill 41.
- Bruce scored with a four-yard run at the end of a nine play, 69-yard drive with 6:05 remaining in the quarter, and then Curtis added a 27-yard touchdown reception 90-seconds later, three plays after Cross intercepted a Skyhawks pass at the 43 and returned it to the 37.

The Leopards extended their lead to four scores with a one-yard touchdown run by Curtis 2:06 into the second quarter before Stonehill got on the scoreboard with Hurley's 37-yard field goal with 6:57 remaining in the first half.
- Lafayette added touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to seal its second-straight win with a one-yard run by Bruce before sophomore Tray Mauney scored the Leopards final touchdown with a two-yard run 26-seconds into the fourth.
- Stonehill produced a seven-play, 73-yard touchdown drive, sparked by Flynn's 37-yard grab to the Lafayette ten three plays before Woodard scored on a one-yard plunge with 10:42 to play for his fourth touchdown of the season.
Noteworthy
- Seide's two picks marks the first multi-interception game for Stonehill since Nate Morris, '15 had a pair against LIU on November 18, 2023. Seide leads the Skyhawks with his three interceptions this fall, coupled with his four pass breakups, has a team-leading seven passes defended.
- Irvine surpassed 100 career tackles with his seven today giving him 105 (72 solo) in 23 career games.
- Woodard's fourth touchdown of the season gives him eight in 21 career games, matching his total from last season.
- This afternoon marked the first meeting all-time between the two programs hailing from Easton, Pennsylvania, and Easton, Massachusetts.
- The game marked a homecoming for Stonehill head coach Eli Gardner, who oversaw his 80th game as Skyhawks head coach today, as he grew up in Milford, New Jersey, across and just a short distance down the Delaware River from Easton, attending Delaware Valley Regional High School before playing football at Western New England University.
