OXFORD, Ohio (March 11, 2025) – The Stonehill College softball team dropped a first-ever matchup against the University of Miami (OH), 5-0, at the Miami Softball Stadium on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
There was just one run in the first three innings of action, with Miami plating one in the second as starters Madilyn Reeves for the Redhawks and sophomore Alex Sciarretto (Bristol, Conn.) for the Skyhawks kept the bats quiet on both sides.
 
Ella Carter led off the bottom of the fourth with a homerun to dead center field to double Miami's lead and the Redhawks tacked on one more later in the inning on a double steal.
 
A fourth run came across on a walk in the fifth inning and an RBI double for Shelby Kunkel extended the Miami lead to 5-0 in the sixth.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Reeves went five innings in the circle for the Redhawks, improving to 6-6 as she allowed just three hits and struck out seven.
• Sciarretto pitched a complete game for the Skyhawks, throwing six innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while tallying a career-high nine strikeouts as she falls to 1-2 on the year.
• Freshman Melanie Snyder (Howard Beach, N.Y.) recorded one of the three Skyhawk hits today, extending her hitting streak to five games as she is hitting .545 (6-11) during the streak.
• Sophomore Harper Sullivan (Glendale, Ariz.) tallied her team-leading eighth base hit of the season while senior Shannon Conte (Amesbury, Mass.) had her seventh base hit of the year.

• The Skyhawks continue a 12-day, 14-game road trip tomorrow afternoon with a matchup against Dayton University at 3 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio at the UD Softball Stadium.
