MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 31, 2025) – Sophomore
Helen Brodahl (Portland, Ore.) shot a +2 to rank T-14th out of 89 golfers as the Stonehill College women's golf team sits in 13th place out of 16 teams after the first day of the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge at the Caledonia Golf Club.
Brodahl shot a 73 on the par 71 course (+2) and was the lone golfer to make an eagle on Monday, using just three shots to sink the ball on the par 5 eighth hole (512 yards). Stonehill's five golfers posted a combined score of 313 (+29) in Monday's opening round. Coastal Carolina sits atop the team leaderboard after shooting 286 (+3) as a squad led by Sara Sarrion who is T-1st after shooting a 67 (-4) for the Chanticleers.
Freshman
Zoe Miller (Hollywood, Northern Ireland) finished the first day of action T-46th in the player standings, shooting a 78 (+7) while junior
Jaelyn DeBoise (Springfield, Mass.) shot an 80 (+9) to finish the day in a tie for 63rd.
Sophomores
Kenna Roman (Berlin, Conn.) and
Carol Pignato (Foxborough, Mass.) shot an 82 (+11) and 87 (+16), respectively, to round out the five scorers for the Skyhawks. Competing individually, senior
Mollie Thomas (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished the first round at +19, shooting a 90.
Brodahl bogied her first two holes of the day and double bogied the third hole before settling in and shooting two under par the rest of the day. She had one birdie, one eagle, three bogeys and just one double bogey while shooting par on every other hole en route to her impressive performance. DeBoise had two birdies while Roman and Pignato each had one of their own.
