BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Stonehill softball team opened the 2026 season with two games against Wisconsin and Delaware at the FAU Classic on Friday.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Sarah Taylor drove in all three of the runs against Delaware, going 2-for-3 at the dish.
- Freshman Juli Murillo went 2-for-4 from the middle of the lineup against the Blue Hens.
- Senior Natalie Bottiglieri went 1-for-2 with a run scored against Delaware.
- Sophomore Grace Conway and freshman McKenzie Caron both picked up the only two extra base hits of the with two doubles against Wisconsin.
GAME 2: DELAWARE 11, STONEHILL 3
In their second game of the day against Delaware, the Blue Hens pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. But the Skyhawks were quick to get those runs back, taking advantage of a Delaware miscue.
With runners on first and second and two outs, sophomore
Sarah Taylor came through with the clutch, opposite field base hit to tie the game. The ballgame stayed tight for the next two innings before Delaware scored twice in the top of the fourth then broke the game open scoring four runs in the fifth.
GAME 1: WISCONSIN 9, STONEHILL 0
The Skyhawks dropped their first game of the day, a 9-0 decision against Wisconsin early in the morning. The Badgers put up a crooked number four in the bottom of the first inning and it was more than enough for a trio of Wisconsin pitchers who combined to toss a two-hitter.
Freshman
McKenzie Caron and Grace Conway had both the Skyhawks hits with doubles in the second and fourth innings, respectively.
