EASTON, Mass. (March 9, 2026) -- Stonehill College and Stonehill Athletics will be adding men's golf as the Skyhawks' 25th varsity sport for the 2027-28 season.
Stonehill will join Binghamton, Chicago State, FDU, Howard, Le Moyne, LIU, Mercyhurst, NC Central, New Haven, UMES and Wagner as the 12th school from the NEC to sponsor men's golf.
"We are delighted to announce Stonehill College's addition of men's golf for the 2027-28 season," said Dean O'Keefe, Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics. "With the College's recent announcement of the purchase of the Easton Country Club, Stonehill continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing the best opportunities and experiences for its student body, and in particular, its student-athletes. The addition of men's golf as an NEC sport will help us attract quality prospective student-athletes, as we remain dedicated to excelling at the Division I level in all of our sports."
Earlier, Stonehill College announced it had entered an agreement to acquire Easton Country Club, a 150-acre golf course located in Easton.
Men's golf is the second sport Stonehill has added as a varsity Division I athletic team this academic year, following the creation of men's swimming & diving for the 2026-27 season.
Stonehill will now have 25 varsity athletic programs at the Division I level, 22 of which will compete in the NEC, while equestrian participates in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), and women's ice hockey in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA). The men's ice hockey program is an independent Division I program.
