HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 2: STONEHILL 12, Mercyhurst 5
Mercyhurst picked up where they left off after winning game one, 5-3, taking an early 3-0 lead scoring twice in the bottom of the first and once in the second. But the Skyhawks answered, pushing across three runs the top of the third.

With the bases loaded and one out, junior Harper Sullivan pulled a single through the right side to plate freshman Juli Murillo and Taylor Schoonmaker. Moments later, senior Jessica Brill got into the action with a single into center to bring home sophomore Sarah Taylor to tie the game.

The Lakers tied the game in the bottom of the third, but it did not last for long. The Skyhawks offense stayed hot and kept the pressure on, putting up three runs in the top of the fourth on clutch two-out hitting.

After freshman Luka Bornhorst tied the game on bobble by the middle infield, they took the lead when Taylor reached on an error by the pitcher that brought home sophomore Taylor Schoonmaker. Harper capped off the inning with an opposite field single into left to plate Murillo with the sixth run.

While Mercyhurst managed to pull within one scoring once in the bottom of the fourth, it was as close as they would get. The Skyhawks extended their lead to three with two runs in the fifth before breaking the game wide open with four runs in the seventh.

GAME 1: MERCYHURST 5, STONEHILL 3
Stonehill erased an early 1-0 deficit scoring three runs in the top of the fifth. Sullivan was a major factor in the all three runs. After ripping a two-out, two-run single into the centerfield, Sullivan swiped second allowing Murillo to come in the back door with the third Skyhawk run.

The Lakers responded and put up a four-spot in the bottom of the fifth to take 5-3 lead which they never relinquished.
