SOUTH BOSTON, Mass. (June 20,2026) – Stonehill men's and women's cross country Head Coach
Karen Boen was inducted into the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Boen, who was inducted into the USTFCCA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2019 and the Stonehill Hall of Fame in 2014, completed her 28
th year as a coach at Stonehill. During her tenure, she elevated the Skyhawks cross country and track and field programs to elite status.
On the women's side, Boen has won a total of 31 conference championships (30 NE-10, and 1 NEC), including Stonehill's first Division I title in the fall of 2023. Additionally, under her leadership the Skyhawks won 11 straight NE-10 women's cross country titles from 2009-2019. Boen saw equally impressive numbers on the men's side, coaching the Skyhawks to 10 conference championships (NE-10), while recruiting and developing the program's first NEC Freshman of the Year (
Luke Allen) in 2025.
Boen was one of five members inducted into the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame, joined by longtime
Boston Herald writer John "Jocko" Connolly.
