NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Sept. 5, 2026) – The Stonehill football team collected a 21-3 victory in the NEC opener over New Haven at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The win improves Stonehill to 1-1 (1-0 NEC), while the Chargers slip to 1-1 (0-1 NEC).
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Eli Gardner, The Paul Finn '71 Head Football Coach, has now coached the most games in Stonehill program history with 95.

- Jack O'Connell was 14-of-18 for 192 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 25 passing TDs for his career (ninth in program history).
- Aidan Garrett scored twice on a 25-yard TD reception and a one-yard rush.
- Shane Eason finished with 15 carries for 82 yards.

- Mo Seide led the Stonehill defense with nine tackles and had an interception return for 76 yards.

- The Skyhawks picked off three New Haven passes.

- Stonehill held New Haven to 0-of-10 on third-down attempts.

- With 192 passing yards and 181 rushing yards as a team, the Skyhawks outgained the Chargers by a margin of 373-295.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
New Haven got on the scoreboard on its opening drive, as Liam Quigley hit a 21-yard field goal early in the first quarter at 12:19 to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead. On Stonehill's ensuing drive,
Jack O'Connell found
Aidan Garrett for a 25-yard TD strike to put the Skyhawks in front, 7-3, with 9:14 to play in the first.
In the second, Garrett found the endzone again, this time on a one-yard rush on fourth down, as Stonehill upped its lead to 14-3 with 4:18 to go in the half. In the final minutes of second, O'Connell sent a pass down the middle to
Torance Washington, Jr., for a 31-yard TD at 1:54 to give the Skyhawks a 21-3 advantage.
