Primary Recruiting Areas: New Jersey (southern), Pennsylvania and Delaware
Richie Curran is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Stonehill College. Curran will serve as position coach for the Skyhawks defensive line, while also taking the duties of video coordinator for head coach Eli Gardner.
Curran joins the Stonehill coaching staff after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the 2019 season. He assisted in the development of the Buccaneers defensive unit that ranked atop the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in scoring defense (15.6 ppg), while finishing with 36 sacks and 14 interceptions, finishing the season ranked fourth nationally in Division III for red-zone defense. Curran mentored a defensive line unit that posted 27 sacks and two All-MASCAC selections, including an All-New England and All-America defensive end. As recruiting coordinator, he managed all social media traffic for the program, designed graphics for prospective student-athletes, commits and organized campus visits.
Prior to his time in Buzzards Bay with Mass Maritime, Curran was an assistant coach at Red Bank Catholic High School in New Jersey for two seasons. The Caseys posted a perfect 10-0 record during the 2018 season, ranking No. 1 in the Shore Conference on its way to the Non-Public Group 3 State Championship. Curran interned with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League durign the summer of 2017, working alongside the operations department with training camp operations.
Curran, a 2017 graduate of Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm College, got his coaching start as a volunteer assistant coach during the spring of his senior year. The Hawks four-year letterwinner served as captain his senior year and received his Bachelor's of Arts degree in psychology. He completed his Master of Science degree in Global Sports Business from Rutgers University in 2019.
