Waltham, Mass.
- Bentley turned a 2-1 halftime lead into a 5-2
win over visiting Stonehill on Wednesday afternoon.
The Skyhawks got goals from freshman Patrick
Noonan (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and sophomore Martin
Earley (Winterport, Maine) but the Falcons used a two and
a half minute stretch during the middle part of the second half to
push a 2-1 lead to 5-1 advantage.
Bentley striker Harris Smirko had four assists and Jared Joaquin
recorded a hat trick including two goals less than a minute apart
to give the Falcons a comfortable lead.
With Bentley up 2-0, Noonan teamed up with David
Pohl (Weymouth, Mass.) for his first collegiate tally to
trim the Falcon margin in half. Bentley then record three straight
goals, with the final one coming from Michael Delaney on Smirko's
fourth helper of the day.
Earley's score, a header from the left side, came courtesy of
freshman Todd Shigo (Naples, Maine).
Stonehill netminder Brian Guerrini
(Glastonbury, Conn.) played the first 72 minutes making five saves
before giving way freshman Brandon McFarlane
(Norwich, Conn.) who made one save in his 18 minutes of action.
The Skyhawks, now 4-8-2 overall and 1-7-1 in Northeast-10
action, return to the field on Saturday when they travel to
American International for a 3 p.m. start.
