Briarcliff,
N.Y. - The women won their fourth
straight game on Saturday, defeating Pace 2-0.
Caitlin McEvily (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and
Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) each added a goal.
The win moves the Skyhawks to 7-4-2 (7-2-2 NE-10) on the season.
Stonehill got on the board early when McEvily scored on the
games' first shot on goal. The freshman's third goal of the
year gave the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead three minutes in. Classmate
Kirstie St. Martin (Lincoln, R.I.) earned her
third assist on the score.
The final score of the afternoon came in the 73rd
minute, courtesy of senior captain Lauren Boyd. Her tenth
goal of the season leads the team, and moves her one score closer
to the Conference leader, Franklin Pierce's Gabriela Demoner
(14).
Goaltender Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.)
claimed her second straight shutout; third in the last four
games. The Skyhawks' defense has held opponents to only two
scores during their latest winning streak.
The Skyhawks remain undefeated in October with an impressive win
over another NE-10 opponent. The women will travel Monday to
take on Indiana (Pa.) in a non-Conference game.
