Easton, Mass. - David
Pohl (Weymouth, Mass.) scored two goals to lift the
Skyhawks over the Bloomfield College Deacons Monday. The
soggy conditions did not stop the Stonehill men; who have now won
two of their last three games to improve to 4-7-1 (1-6-1 NE-10).
Strong defenses on both sides prevent any scoring for the
majority of the game. However, in the 74th minute
Pohl would break up the scoreless tie with his team leading fifth
goal of the season, assisted by Todd Shigo
(Naples, Maine).
Goaltender Brian Guerrini (Glastonbury, Conn.)
denied six shots on his way to recording his first shut out in
2007. Stonehill's last shut out came against Goldey-Beacom,
September 15th. However, Danny Kerl
(Massapequa Park, N.Y.), not Guerrini, would receive credit for the
1-0 OT victory.
Pohl would add another goal with one minute remaining to cement
the Stonehill victory. The men's team continues to roll; they
are 2-0-1 in their last three games.
They will look to continue this streak Wednesday, when they
travel to rival Bentley College. The game is schedule for
3:30pm in Waltham.
