Easton, Mass. - The women's
team put together their most complete game of the year Saturday,
defeating the St. Michael's Purple Knights 2-0. With the
impressive win the Skyhawks improved to 2-3 on the season, 2-2 in
the NE-10.
The Skyhawks dominated all aspects of the game.
Offensively, Stonehill had 16 shots, with nine shots on goal.
A relentless attack led to an early goal from freshman
Caitlin McEvily (Grove Heights, Minn.), assisted
by senior Meghan O'Brien (Stow, Mass.). The
goal is McEvily's first collegiate score.
Midway through the second half the Skyhawks struck again.
After multiple shots on goal, a deflected save was drilled in by
sophomore Erin Bazinet (Charlton, Mass.).
The unassisted goal was Bazinet's first of the season.
Defensively, Stonehill smothered St. Michael's.
Outstanding play from Hilary Eckhardt (Marshfield,
Mass.), Jenn Stanwick (Auburn, Mass.), and
Kelley Harper (Liverpool, N.Y.) held the Purple
Knights to only one shot.
Stonehill is starting to build momentum, winning two of their
last three games. Their next contest will be Wednesday,
September 19th, at Franklin Pierce.
