North Andover, Mass. - Post University's Abby
Walker scored 1:32 into the second overtime to lift the Eagles to
their first win of the season, a 2-1 double overtime decision over
the Skyhawks in the first game of the Merrimack Invitational on
Saturday.
Post got on the board first, getting a goal from Frantzy Noze at
22:09. Stonehill answered minutes later when Shaun
Keeley (Woburn, Mass.) gathered in a loose ball from
Eagles netminder Marco Gasper and punched in a goal to even the
score at 1-1.
The game remained that way, mostly because of the goalkeepers,
with Gasper making three saves and Skyhawks goalie Brian
Guerrini (Glastonbury, Conn.) turning away two shots of
his own.
Both teams only produced four shots on goal, but Post held a 9-1
edge in corner kicks.
Stonehill, which drops to 2-4 overall, returns to action
tomorrow when it faces C.W. Post, a team that fell to Merrimack,
4-1 in the second game of the invitational doubleheader.
