Ravens Score Late to Send Stonehill Home With a 2-2 Tie

Rindge, N.H. - After an impressive performance last week against Saint Michael's, the Skyhawks were ready to make it two in row against another Conference power house; the Franklin Pierce Ravens (5-1-2, 3-1-2 NE-10).  Stonehill may not have won game, however they certainly earned some respect.

Early in the first half, Franklin Pierce's Gabriela Demoner started the scoring with an assist from Angelika Johansson.  The Skyhawks were quick to answer back when senior Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) nailed home her fourth goal of the year from an Erin Bazinet (Charlton, Mass.) assist.

Meghan O'Brien (Stow, Mass.) opened the second half with a free kick score that gave the Skyhawks the lead 2-1.  Strong defensive play continue through the second half as Stonehill held the high scoring Ravens to only one goal.  Goalkeeper Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) led the way defensively with 10 saves.

With seven minutes remaining in the game, Raven Gabriela Demoney scored again, this time assisted by Thatiane Preisler.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Stonehill College hopes to continue their improved play when they take on Southern Connecticut, Saturday at 7:00pm.  With this latest tie the Skyhawks improve to 2-1-1 in NE-10 action.
