Rindge, N.H. - After an impressive performance
last week against Saint Michael's, the Skyhawks were ready to make
it two in row against another Conference power house; the Franklin
Pierce Ravens (5-1-2, 3-1-2 NE-10). Stonehill may not have
won game, however they certainly earned some respect.
Early in the first half, Franklin Pierce's Gabriela
Demoner started the scoring with an assist from Angelika
Johansson. The Skyhawks were quick to answer back when senior
Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) nailed home her
fourth goal of the year from an Erin Bazinet
(Charlton, Mass.) assist.
Meghan O'Brien (Stow, Mass.) opened the second
half with a free kick score that gave the Skyhawks the lead
2-1. Strong defensive play continue through the second half
as Stonehill held the high scoring Ravens to only one goal.
Goalkeeper Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) led
the way defensively with 10 saves.
With seven minutes remaining in the game, Raven Gabriela
Demoney scored again, this time assisted by
Thatiane Preisler. The game ended in a 2-2
tie.
Stonehill College hopes to continue their improved play when
they take on Southern Connecticut, Saturday at 7:00pm. With
this latest tie the Skyhawks improve to 2-1-1 in NE-10 action.
