Easton, Mass.
- Stonehill rallied from a 1-0 halftime
deficit to produce a 2-1 win in a hotly contested
match with Northeast-10 Conference foe, Saint Anselm (5-6, 3-4
NE-10).
After allowing an own goal early on, the Skyhawks rebounded for
two second half goal en route to their third Conference win and
extended their unbeaten streak to four games.
On the team's second corner kick of the second half,
freshman Michele Norton (Abington, Mass.) dropped
a perfect pass for Kelly Regan (Mansfield, Mass.)
to nail home her first goal of the season.
Norton and Regan teamed up again, breaking a 1-1
tie with eight minutes left. Off a free kick, Norton hung the
ball in the front of the net and Regan's picture-perfect
header gave the Skyhawks the lead for good.
On the defensive side, Stonehill got strong play from
Hilary Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass), Kelley
Harper (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Anna Kern
(Attleboro, Mass.) limiting the Hawks to three shots on
goal.
Netminder Alex Eckhardt (Mansfield, Mass.)
turned away three shots for Stonehill, who now have two of their
next three at home beginning with Saturday's matchup with Bentley,
a team they defeated 8-0 last year.
