Unbeaten Streak Halted At Four With 1-0 Loss To No.
10 St. Rose
Albany, N.Y. - The Skyhawks saw their four game
unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss to No. 10 St. Rose
on Thursday. The game was a makeup from a previously scheduled
contest that was postponed on September 11th due to
weather.
The game remained scoreless for the first eight minutes of the
second half until Ashley McGuire fed Sami Brown for the game's lone
goal.
Stonehill's defense held a normally high powered Golden Knight
team to just one tally, after they entered the match having scored
17 goals in their last five games.
Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) was
tremendous in goal, turning away nine shots, but the Skyhawk
offense could only muster one shot, which came in the first half.
St. Rose goaltender Lauren Steinberg played all 90 minutes in
net and didn't need to make a save to record her 35th
career shutout.
Stonehill, now 3-4-2 overall, returns to the friendly confines
of Skyhawk Field for a Northeast-10 tilt with Bentley, a team they
defeated 8-0 a year ago.
