Skyhawks Earn First Win Of The Season
Boxscore
Springfield Mass. - Stonehill
used a strong defensive effort and great play from goalie
Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn.) to beat the AIC
Yellow Jackets 1-0 and earn their first victory of the season.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the first half but
couldn't convert as the game remained scoreless at the half.
In the second half the teams continued trading scoring
opportunities, but the match remained scoreless until the 87th
minute when freshman forward Mark Bolster
(Narragansett, R.I.) placed the ball in the top-right corner off a
feed from junior midfielder Victor Regis
(Topsfield, Mass.) for his first career goal. The Yellow
Jackets had consistent pressure in the offensive end during the
final three minutes, but were unable to get a quality shot on goal.
McFarlane had five saves for the Skyhawks who improve to 1-1 on
the season, while the loss drops AIC to 1-4-1. Stonehill next
takes to the field when they travel to take on Assumption on
Saturday, September 13 at 1:00 pm.
