Win
Boxscore
Worcester, Mass.
- The Skyhawks weren't rusty in their first game
in over a month winning their second straight overall, and first in
regulation as they defeated Worcester St. 6-5 on Saturday
evening.
The Lancers got on the board first as Andrew Brady scored his
second game of the season at the 9:33 mark for the one goal
lead.
However the Skyhawks came back just four and a half minutes
later, as Chris Rodgers (Westford, Mass.) scored
his first goal of the season on assists by Paul
Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass.) and Andrew
Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.).
Stonehill wasted little time in grabbing the lead as
Pete Roundy (Westford, Mass.) scored 30 seconds
later to give the Skyhawks a 2-1 lead, one that they would take
into the second period.
Just a minute and half into the second Worcester tied it up,
this time on an unassisted goal by John Calahane. Stonehill
grabbed the lead once again, as Brendan Connors
(Lowell, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season at the 4:52
mark.
The Skyhawks extended their advantage to 4-2 two minutes later
as senior Zachary Cantin (Walpole, Mass.) scored
his first goal of the season, this on an assist from Jordan
Fine (Walpole, Mass.).
The Lancers weren't finished and struck twice in a minute
and half span midway through the period to tie the game at
four.
James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) halted
the Worcester run as he scored his team leading fourth goal of the
season with assists from Brendan O'Brian
(Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Bill Harris
(Weymouth, Mass.) at the 15:29 mark.
O'Brien gave the Skyhawks a two lead for a second time, upping
the score to 6-4 Stonehill eight minutes into the third period. The
Lancers took nine shots in the period but were only able to come up
with a single goal as Stonehill took the 6-5 win.
Freshman Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass.) won
his second straight game in goal for the Skyhawks stopping 27 shots
for the win as Stonehill improved to 2-7 with the victory.
The Skyhawks return to action when they take on Wentworth at
7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
