WEST HAVEN, Conn. (October
3, 2009) - Stonehill College bounced back from a string of
three-straight one-goal losses to post a 1-0 victory over the
University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer
action at Kayo Field this afternoon.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah
Hickey (Lee, Mass./Lee) made four saves to post her second
shutout of the season and classmate Kelsey Mahoney
(Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) netted the lone goal of
the match to lead Stonehill to victory.
Mahoney's goal came as the clock
was winding down in regulation when she scooped up a loose ball
before scoring her second goal of the season at 75:22. Hickey made
three of her four stops in the second half to preserve the win and
clean sheet.
Sophomore Kim Taylor
(Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) finished with two
saves in goal for New Haven who posted a 12-9 advantage in shots
for the match.
Stonehill (5-7-0, 3-6-0 NE-10) is
off until next Saturday when it hosts Saint Anselm College at 11
a.m. New Haven (6-5-2, 3-5-1 NE-10) hosts Le Moyne College on
Tuesday at 4 p.m.
