BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (August 30, 2009) - Defending NCAA Division II National Champions Bloomsburg University, ranked first in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division II preseason poll, posted a 4-0 victory over 8th-ranked Stonehill College in non-conference field hockey action at Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Sophomore Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) scored two goals, while senior Erin Hench (Loysville, Pa./West Perry) dished two assists to lead Bloomsburg to victory. Senior Breann Tobin (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and junior Ashley Miller (Sermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) also netted goals for the Huskies.

Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Koczynski (Yardley, Pa./Neshaminy) made three saves to preserve the shutout for Bloomsburg. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) surrendered two goals in the opening 17:25, before giving way to freshman Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) who made three stops over the final 52:35 in her collegiate debut.

Bloomsburg scored all four goals in the opening 26 minutes of the contest. Riley opened the scoring with an unassisted marker 10:34 in. Tobin added an unassisted goal just 1:54 later to double the Huskies lead. Miller scored off a pass from Hench at the 23:34 mark of the opening half, before Hench set up Riley's second goal 2:12 after that to round out the scoring.

Stonehill was able to hold the National Champions from there, but the Skyhawks were unable to get on the scoreboard themselves and mount a rally.

Stonehill (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) continues its string of road games against nationally-ranked opposition on Wednesday when it visits No. 5 Bentley University for a non-conference battle at 7 p.m. Bloomsburg (2-0, 0-0 PSAC) hosts Seton Hill on Thursday at 4 p.m.
