Yellow Jackets sting Stonehill for one second-half
goal
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 10, 2010) –
Stonehill College lost a narrow 1-0 decision to American
International College, currently ranked fifth in the East Region by
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in a
Northeast-10 women's soccer game Sunday in Springfield.
American International sophomore Devan Boundy (Avon, Conn./Avon)
scored the game's lone goal just after halftime, and
Stonehill was held scoreless by graduate student Kara Potts
(Westfield, Mass./Westfield), who finished with six saves. The
Skyhawks got a nine-save effort from freshman goalkeeper
Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth).
Following a scoreless first half, Boundy netted the winner 1:17
into the second period off a free kick by senior Cassie Ashwell
(Agawam, Mass./Agawam). The Skyhawks responded with increased
offensive pressure and tallied seven second-half shots, but Potts
held them off, including an 89th-minute stop against senior
Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I./Mount Saint Charles
Academy).
Wheaton made six second-half saves to keep the Skyhawks in the
game, but Stonehill was unable to break through against the Yellow
Jackets.

Bridgeport on October 13 at 3:30 p.m. American International (9-4,
