McFarlane records third shutout; White scores twice to
lead offense
EASTON, Mass. (September 29, 2010) – The
Stonehill College men’s soccer team regained their winning
form in the Northeast-10 Conference on Wednesday, shutting out
UMass Lowell 4-0 at home.
Senior goalkeeper Brandon
McFarlane (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy)
notched his third shutout of the season, and junior Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional)
tallied two goals and an assist to pace the Stonehill offense. The
Skyhawks also got a goal and an assist from sophomore Anthony
Campagnano (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland), a goal
from senior Michael Bridges
(Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich), and two assists from junior
Ross
McWilliams (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown).
Stonehill struck early in the first half as Campagnano lined a
shot into the middle of the net in just the 10th minute, and took a
2-0 lead by the 20th minute after McWilliams set up White on the
right side of the box. McFarlane made two first-half saves to
maintain the lead going into the break.

White netted his second of the day on a header early in the
second half, and just over a minute later knocked a pass through
the River Hawk defense in front of the net to Bridges, who put away
the fourth and final goal of the game.
McFarlane faced heavier pressure from UMass Lowell in the second
half, but turned away five attempts to finish the afternoon with
seven saves and the shutout.
Stonehill (4-3-1, 2-3-1 NE-10) next visits the University of New
Haven on October 2 at 1 p.m., and returns home on October 6 to host
Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 4 p.m.
