Stonehill And American International College Play To Scoreless Draw In Double Overtime

Wheaton stops ten shots to earn fourth shutout this season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 29, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team and American International College played to a double overtime 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon at Abdow Field in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action.

Stonehill junior captain and goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) turned away ten shots, including six in the second half, to earn her fourth shutout of the season (11th career).

Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Tabak (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) made two saves in net for the Yellow Jackets.

American International College outshot Stonehill, 25-9, and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior forward Caroline Boyce (Canterbury, N.H./Belmont) recorded five shots on goal for the Yellow Jackets and fired six shots total in the scoreless tie.

Stonehill (3-2-3, 2-2-3 NE-10) travels to UMass Lowell on Tuesday, October 2 for an NE-10 contest at 7 p.m. American International College (5-2-2, 4-1-2 NE-10) visits the College of Saint Rose, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
