EASTON, Mass. (October 16, 2021) - Senior Camryn Thompson's first career hat trick sealed a 5-0 Senior Day victory for Stonehill College over the University of Maine-Fort Kent in non-conference women's soccer action at Skyhawk Field as part of Homecoming Weekend today.
The Details
- Thompson's first career three-goal outing was also just the third multi-goal outing or the Skyhawks senior (2 goals, 9/8/18, 9/29/21).
- Thompson now leads Stonehill with eight goals, marking the program's first hat trick effort since former teammate Kayla Henry's '21 three-goal outing in a 6-3 victory over Assumption (10/22/19) – which also marked the last time the Skyhawks scored five or more goals.
- The shutout was the third clean sheet of the season for the Skyhawks, which was shared among a trio of goalkeepers in junior Hanna Copley, sophomore Mia Jackson, and freshman Kylee Colclough
- Junior Hannah Guidi and freshman Olivia Webster supported the Thompson hat trick with goals in the victory – the latter of which scored the first collegiate goal of her career.
- The Stonehill defense was stingy, allowing just three shots by Fort Kent, none of which reached the goalkeeping corps.
- Thompson's first goal came in the 12th minute of action when she broke in, slipped past a defender and right footed the ball into the left side of the goal.
- Her second goal, in the 35th minute, was a long drive from 25 yards out in the center of the field that found the upper right corner of the goal off a pass from junior Emma Montanile. She completed the hat trick just after halftime off a feed from junior Abi Murphy when she used her left foot to tuck the ball into the lower left corner of the goal just 1:20 in.
