The Details
- In the opening 10 minutes, both sides were scoreless but at the 9:35 mark, Whaley corralled a loose puck and pushed down the ice, and after making a nice move on the defender and goalie, she snuck the puck past Elmore's pad for a 1-0 lead.
- For the rest of the frame, Zukow held the Pioneers without a goal as she made three stops as the Purple and White took their one-goal lead into the second.
- Less than two minutes into the second period (18:19), Sacred Heart turned the puck over at center ice. Petford took the loose puck and skated down straight at Elmore and faked to the right and flipped the puck into the net and doubled the Stonehill lead (2-0).
- Not even five minutes later (16:00), Sonntag flipped the puck up ahead and found Whaley behind the net who then found a waiting Turcotte in front and pushed her shot past Elmore for a 3-0 advantage.
- Zukow and the Stonehill defense held strong again as the squad only allowed just one shot in the entire period and it ended up going wide.
- With just 13 seconds left in the period (19:47), Mendeszoon corralled a loose puck near center ice and sent it ahead to Petford and fired a wrist shot past Greene's glove side and made it 4-0 heading into the final frame.
- After an early third-period goal from Guidi, the Pioneers only mustered nine shots as the Stonehill defense and Zukow along with Stone held strong for the 4-1 win.
