The Details
- After each side went back and forth for the most part of the opening period, Long Island struck first on a powerplay goal when Bouveur corralled a loose puck in front of the Stonehill net and put the puck past Stone for the 1-0 advantage.
- Less than five minutes into the second, the Sharks doubled their lead (2-0) when Umpherville dished the puck to Morrow near the left face-off circle who then passed it ahead to Bouveur as she was positioned on Stone's glove side for her second goal of the afternoon. Long Island tacked on their second goal of the period off the stick of Culp just a little over two minutes later.
- However, Stonehill responded shortly after the squad generated a powerplay opportunity. The Skyhawks had the puck in Long Island's zone and from the right face-off circle, Geist swung the puck over to to Carey at the left face-off circle. From there, she sent a rocket past Holm's glove side and cut the Sharks lead back to two (3-1).
- As the third got underway, Rouke generated her own offense and at the 3:10 mark, she netted Long Island's fourth goal and pushed the lead back up to three (4-1). Nearly six minutes later, Rouke netted her second goal of the day after she again took matters into her own hands which made it 5-1.
- Stonehill had a great look at the 9:06 point when Alexis Petford sent a shot on net but saw her attempt stopped by Holm. From there, Long Island's defense kept the Skyhawks in check as the Sharks held on for the 5-1 win.
