The Details

  • After a sluggish start between both sides in the opening minutes, Dartmouth broke the scoreless tie on a powerplay goal by Bowlby with 10:33 left in the first.
  • Despite being down one, Stonehill responded nearly a minute later (09:17) when the Skyhawks generated their own powerplay opportunity. The graduate forward took the puck from Stonehill's end and pushed up the ice through the Dartmouth defense and sent a slap shot from the right face-off circle past Emerson's glove side and evened the contest at one.
  • Shortly after their tying goal (08:11), the Purple and White retook the lead on a short-handed goal off the stick of Russell. The Big Green tried clearing the puck out of their zone when they sent the puck up ice but Russell intercepted the pass at center ice and skated toward Emerson and rifled her shot past the Dartmouth netminder's stick side which made it 2-1. For Russell, it marked her first goal on her collegiate career.
  • As the second period got underway, both sides never let up as Dartmouth held the slight shot advantage (10-9). However, with a little under seven minutes left in the frame (06:34), Dixon tied things at two after she snuck the puck past Stone's glove side.
  • The final period was also tightly contested as Dartmouth peppered Stone with multiple shots but was turned away each time including a big-time stop when Maura Fiorenza sent a crossing pass over to Putrah who had her shot knocked away by Stone's pad with 07:36 left.
  • Stonehill also had their fair share of chances as they put six shots on net to Emerson but she also made key stops like Stone did to keep things at two. However, with 01:37 remaining, Putrah put home a great look from Stamper who saw Putrah going straight toward the Stonehill net to get the puck past Stone's stick for the 3-2 win.
