SHELTON, Conn. (February 12, 2022)-In a game that saw four different Skyhawks score, Stonehill fell to Post University in a high scoring Northeast-10 Conference battle, 6-4 Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

The Details:

  • Post got the scoring started early in the first period (02:11 and 04:38) off the sticks of Tommy Buis and Brandon Crowther for the early 2-0 Eagles lead.
  • Despite the multi-goal deficit, Stonehill responded later on in the first scoring two goals of their own at the 13:35 and 14:39 mark. John Peloso put Stonehill on the board after the Skyhawks generated a power-play opportunity. After Kyle Heath won the faceoff, he sent the puck over to Peloso who sent his shot past Post goalie, Brandon Brown
  • Just a little over a minute later, Cam Mannion evened things up at two for Stonehill. After receiving great lead passes from both Nolan FitzPatrick and Ryan King, Mannion found the back of the net on what was his first goal in his collegiate career.
  • However, in the second period, Post broke the tie and doubled their lead with two power-play goals from Evan Lugo and Crowther.
  • Stonehill had a chance to cut into the 4-2 deficit when they had another power-play chance and Heath ended up getting a shot off but was blocked by a Post defender.
  • As the third period was getting underway, the Skyhawks had a power-play opportunity 16 seconds in and this time was capitalized (01:02). Charles Page collected a pass from Jake Cady after Mike Seoane had sent the puck to him. Once Page corralled the pass from Cady, he put his shot past Brown to cut the deficit to one (4-3).
  • Although the Skyhawks pulled within one, the Eagles added two more goals again from Crowther (01:54) and Trey DeLoury (06:56).
  • Stonehill took the deficit back down to two (6-4) after Matt Talarico received a pass from Page after winning a face-off to put his shot in the back of the net (07:39). After Talarico's goal, the Skyhawks had chances after putting three shots on the net but unfortunately could not score.
  • On the afternoon, Stonehill goalie John Day turned away 40 shots making it the third time this season he has recorded 40 or more saves.
