PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 3, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team dropped a midweek non-conference matchup on the road against Brown University, 3-1, Tuesday night.

Highlights

  • Sophomore Colin Milliken scored his Northeast Conference-leading sixth goal of the season for Stonehill.
  • Senior captain Jacob Woznicki dished out his team-leading fourth assist on the year.
  • Senior goalkeeper Ryan Coutu recorded two saves in his third start in net for the Skyhawks.
  • First-year student Carlo Brown netted his second goal of the season, while sophomore Dylan Ellis and senior Levi Pillar each recorded their first career goals for Brown.
  • Senior netminder Hudson Blatteis tallied four saves in earning his first career win in goal for the Bears.

How it Happened

  • Early in the match, Stonehill had sustained offensive pressure in the Brown defensive zone as senior captain Shon Ryan just missed on two scoring opportunities within the opening 15 minutes of the contest, nearly giving the Skyhawks an early advantage on the board.
  • The Stonehill starting backline of senior Ekrem Hadzic, sophomore Terence O'Neill, and the first-year duo of Ethan O'Connor and Jaxson Kahawai started the game out strong, not allowing a shot to make its way on goal for the opening 40 minutes.
  • However, in the 42nd minute, Brown would break through scoring the game's opening goal on a diving header from Pillar off a cross from the right side by senior Scott Gustafson.
  • Both sides would go back and forth on the pitch to start the second half of action, playing throughout the middle third of the field until the 72nd minute, where the Bears extended their lead to 2-0 off an unassisted goal by Ellis.
  • Brown would tack one more goal on the board at the 85:49 mark of the contest off the foot of Brown.
  • The Skyhawks pulled one goal back just under three minutes later as Milliken netted his Northeast Conference-leading sixth goal of the season off a cross from Woznicki.
