How it Happened
- Alaska-Fairbanks wasted little jumping out to an early lead as Rubtsov got the scoring started for the Nanooks just three minutes into the contest with an unassisted goal.
- The Nanooks would not let up in the first tacking three more goals on the board throughout the opening 20 minutes of action to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the first intermission.
- Stonehill looked to flip momentum early in the second period as Schreifels netted the lone Skyhawks goal of the game at the 5:46 mark of the middle frame.
- However, Alaska-Fairbanks would regain its momentum from the first and score four goals over the final 10 minutes of the middle period, extending its advantage to 8-1 heading into the third.
- Despite shutting out the Nanooks in the third, their lead grew too much for the Skyhawks to mount a comeback as they eventually fell by a final score of 8-1.
