BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (November 18, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped a tough 4-2 decision at home to Anna Maria College on Saturday. With the loss, the Skyhawks fall to 0-12 on the season, while the Amcats improve to 5-2 on the young campaign.  

Highlights

• Freshman Conor Ronayne scored his first two collegiate goals for the Skyhawks.
• Freshman Anthony Galante distributed his second assist of the season, while sophomore defender Alexander Tertyshny dished out his first career assist.
• Junior goaltender Gavin FitzPatrick got his second start in net this season and posted 18 saves in between the pipes for Stonehill.
• Senior August Bouveng netted his first goal of the season off freshman Caleb Cathcart's first career assist.
• Junior defender Derek Raposo led the Amcats with a pair of goals on the night.
• First-year netminder Connor Bradford made his collegiate debut in net for Anna Maria after entering the game midway through the second. Bradford earned his first career win after stopping 26 of his 28 shots faced.

How it Happened

• Anna Maria wasted little time getting the scoring started, netting the game's opening goal at the 5:38 mark of the opening frame off the stick of Bouveng. Through the remainder of the first period, both sides would trade shots back and forth, playing to a 1-0 score heading into the first intermission.
• Stonehill would dominate possession throughout the middle frame, outshooting the Amcats 17-5 over the 20 minutes of action.
• However, each side would light the lamp in the second period after Raposo netted his first of two on the night before Ronayne would respond less than three minutes later at the 18:06 mark to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the third period. 
• The Skyhawks would tie the game up at two apiece eight minutes into the third and final frame of regulation after Ronayne redirected a Tertyshny shot off the point into the back of the net. 
• At the 17:08 mark of the third period, Raposo scored what would prove to be the game-winner after receiving a cross-ice saucer pass from freshman Max Wennerberg.
• Despite the late effort to mount a comeback, Anna Maria would seal the 4-2 victory with an empty net goal in the waning seconds of the contest.
