The Details
- After a back-and-forth opening 10 minutes, the Sharks struck first at 11:43 when Wallner forced a turnover on Stonehill's side of the ice. From there, Wallner took the puck ahead to Zukow and beat her glove side for an early 1-0 lead.
- The Skyhawks had multiple opportunities to tie things at one after the Sharks goal led by two shots from Lily Geist but was turned away from Holm. Alexis Petford had a great look toward the end of the first when she riffled a shot on net, but Holm made the stop as the Sharks headed into the second up by one.
- Less than a minute into the second period, Long Island doubled their lead after Morrow set up Umpherville for the Sharks second goal of the evening. Later in the second, Stonehill had a powerplay opportunity to cut into the Long Island lead, but unfortunately could not put home their first goal despite two solid shots from Lucie Turcotte.
- Stonehill's offense continued their aggressive play in the final period as the squad outshot the Sharks, 7-5 which included a point where both Paige Whaley and Bailey Feeney peppered Holm with back-to-back shots but unfortunately were turned away each time. While the Skyhawks applied pressure on the offensive end, the Purple and White were held off the scoreboard as Holm and Long Island earned the 2-0 win.
