Durham registered a career-best 13 saves in her first start of the season

Durham shines with career-high 13 saves in net for the Skyhawks.

BRONX, N.Y. (August 24, 2023) – Senior goalkeeper Leanne Durham stopped 13 shots on net as Stonehill College fell to Fordham University, 2-0, in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Jack Coffey Field this afternoon.

How it Happened

• Fordham midfielder Kaitlyn Murphy stole the ball outside of the Stonehill box and netted a shot to the top of the goal to give the Rams a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.
• Durham was able to turn away six shots from Fordham in the first half to keep the Skyhawks within one goal heading into the break.
• Graduate student Emma Slade narrowly missed a shot over the crossbar in the 53rd minute but Rams' goalie Kyla King was able to get a hand on the ball to turn it away.
• Fordham midfielder Lena Johnsen scored the second goal for the Rams in the 59th minute on a rebound as Durham was recovering from a save off a free kick that landed right at Johnsen's feet in front of the net.
• Durham's thirteen saves are a career-high for the senior goalkeeper who made her first start of the season for the Skyhawks.

Noteworthy

• This was the first meeting between the two teams since September 4, 1994, a 4-0 win for Stonehill. The all-time series between the Skyhawks and Rams now sits at 1-1.
• Slade led Stonehill with two shots in just 42 minutes of action off the bench.
• This marks the first time the Skyhawks have faced an Atlantic-10 Conference opponent.
• Durham's 13 saves are the most by a Skyhawk since senior goalkeeper Mia Jackson tallied 12 on October 13, 2022 at Wagner.
