BURLINGTON, Vt. (September 10, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team dropped a tough 3-1 decision on the road this afternoon to the University of Vermont.

Senior Emmy Dumaresq scored her first goal of the season and third of her career.

Senior goalkeeper Leanne Durham registered four saves in going the full 90 minutes in goal for the Skyhawks.

Junior Kate Bossert scored two of the Catamounts three goals on the afternoon, while junior Tessa Weiss found the back of the net for the first time in her career.

However, Vermont would respond in the 12th minute of the contest, tying the game up at one apiece on a goal from Bossert.

Sophomore Hannah Anselmo nearly gave the Skyhawks back the lead with shots on goal from inside the box at the 18- and 33-minute marks of the opening half.

Bossert would give the Catamounts their first lead of the contest with her second goal of the game at the 53:24-minute mark of the second half.

Vermont would cap off the scoring in the 65th minute with Weiss's first career goal.

Despite Dumaresq rocketing one final shot on net in the final minute of the game, the Catamounts advantage grew too much for the Skyhawks to overcome, eventually falling by a final score of 3-1.
Stonehill (0-6-1, 0-0-0 NEC) is back in action on Thursday, traveling to Long Island University for the season's Northeast Conference opener against the Sharks at 3 P.M. Vermont (5-2-0, 0-0-0 AE) opens America East Conference play on Sunday, Sept. 17 against Maine at 3 P.M.
