EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's soccer dropped a 4-0 decision to the University of Portland in the first annual Cross & Anchors Classic Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Katie Carey recorded a team-high two shot attempts on the day for the Skyhawks, including one on goal.

Senior goalkeeper's Mia Jackson and Leanne Durham split halves in net for the Skyhawks, tallying a combined six saves throughout the contest.

Senior Nedya Sawan and sophomore Violet Rademacher scored their team-leading second goals of the season.

First-year duo Hailey Bagby and Nina Rhode each netted their first career goals for the Pilots.

Junior netminder Bre Norris (Boise, Idaho/Boise)recorded one save in going the full 90 minutes in net for Portland.

Portland would score the game's opening goal in the 32nd minute of the contest when Rademacher followed a shot off the cross bar and headed it into the back of the net.

Trailing by one coming out of the halftime break, first-year student Lily Roslonek in the 50th minute would blast a shot from 25-yards out, sailing just over the top of the Pilots net, nearly tying the game up at one apiece.

However, Portland would extend its lead to 2-0 on Rhode's first career goal in the 64th minute.

The Pilots would tack two more on the board in the 71st and 72nd minutes of the game, respectively. Bagby netted her first career goal, while Sawan registered her second of the campaign.
Stonehill (0-8-1, 0-1-0 NEC) returns to action on Thursday, visiting Le Moyne College for a Northeast Conference matchup at 3 P.M. Portland (5-1-2, 0-0-0 WCC) will host Cal Poly on Saturday, September 23 at 7 P.M.
