STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (October 18, 2024) – Wagner College struck for a pair of goals just 2:50 apart to first force overtime and then collect a 3-2 overtime triumph over Stonehill College in a Northeast Conference battle at the Wagner Field Hockey Complex this afternoon.

How It Happened
  • Wagner grabbed a quick lead with Müller's first goal of the day 3:59 into the game off a pass from postgrad Cami Valor.
  • Stonehill settled into the game after the opener and got a deserved equalizer when Stark collected a turnover near midfield and then raced into the circle before depositing her team-leading fifth goal of the season into the back of the cage 6:38 into the second quarter.
  • Stonehill recorded ten of its 12 shots in the contest over the two middle quarters, adding five of its seven penalty corners during that stretch as well.
  • The Skyhawks grabbed the lead with 2:04 to play in the third quarter as sophomore Julieta D'Antonio lofted a pass into the scoring area and Mirabile alertly poked her stick at the ball to direct it into the left side of the goal for her third goal of the season.
  • Wagner forced overtime as Leunisse scored her eighth goal of the season with just two minutes to play in regulation and the Seahawks playing without van Dalen in goal for an extra field player. Leunisse converted off a rebound after Conte made two saves off corner attempts by the hosts.
  • Müller's second goal of the contest just 50-seconds into overtime marked the winner for Wagner, once again converting on a rebound off two saves by Conte, for her seventh goal of the year.

  • Shannon Conte at Bryant

Wagner moves into a tie for first place in the NEC standings with Fairfield University with the win today, while Stonehill drops back into a tie for sixth place with Sacred Heart University – just a half game behind Saint Francis University and LIU who are tied fourth at 3-2.
  • Conte took over sole possession of second place all-time at Stonehill with 363 career saves in 48 games, moving past Cindy Pultz, '03 with 356 stops. Conte trails only Sara Freedman, '19 with 466 career saves in Stonehill history.
  • Stark's team-leading five goals rank ninth in the NEC and marks a career-high, surpassing her four goals scored in 2023.
  • Stark has a point in each of the Skyhawks last three games.
  • All three of Mirabile's goals scored this season have come in Stonehill's last three NEC contests. Her three goals are a career-best, after netting two goals as a freshman.
  • D'Antonio dished out her second career assist on the Skyhawks go-ahead goal in the third quarter.
