Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (October 20, 2024) – Long Island University scored three goals in the first quarter of play on its way to a 5-0 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast Conference field hockey action today.
Highlights
- Sophomore Gigi Ranoldo scored a pair of goals and classmate Kiki Bruning dished out two assists to lead LIU to the key NEC win.
- Senior Fleur Hofman registered two saves in posting the shutout.
- Sophomore Juana Laskowski and freshmen Lotte Haagmans and Jasmijn Roelofsen all contributed a goal each for the Sharks.
- Senior Shannon Conte finished with nine saves in goal for Stonehill.
How It Happened
- LIU struck for three goals within a four minute span late in the first quarter to gain control of the contest. Laskowski opened the scoring with 4:22 remaining in the opening frame.
- Bruning set up the Sharks next two goals, the first assist coming on Ranoldo's first goal of the afternoon with 1:20 left in the first quarter, before adding a second helper on Haagmans marker with 37-seconds left.
- Ranoldo's second goal of the contest extended LIU's lead with 4:27 to play in the third quarter, before Roelofsen converted a penalty stroke late in the fourth to cap the scoring.
