- LIU's Londell Wheeler and Niklas Thanhofer each netted goals for the Sharks, Wheeler's second of the season and Thanhofer's team-leading fourth. This was Thanhofer's first game since Sept. 29, scoring in the same minute he subbed into the game.
- Eoin Gawronski started in goal for the Sharks, posting his fourth shutout of the season as his record improved to 5-3-5.
How it Happened
After a scoreless first half, the Sharks opened the scoring in the 68th minute after a long throw-in from Wheeler into the box bounced around before Thanhofer made a play on the ball, rifling a left-footed shot past Sloan and a handful of Skyhawk defenders to give LIU a 1-0 lead.
Just a minute later, a deep pass from the Sharks' defensive zone went over the top of the Skyhawk back line to Wheeler, who slipped past everyone into the box, tapping in a right-footed shot past the outstretched arms of Sloan, increasing LIU's lead to 2-0.
Sloan made a handful of saves in the final 20 minutes of the game to keep Stonehill within two, but the Skyhawk offense couldn't muster any open looks as LIU secured the 2-0 win in an important NEC contest.
